Gua sha has been part of skincare rituals for centuries, and its modern comeback is easy to understand: it's relaxing, it feels good, and it only takes a few minutes. Here's a simple routine to try with your gua sha tool.
Step 1: Prep your skin
Start with clean, dry skin and apply a few drops of facial oil or serum. The tool should glide smoothly — never drag or pull.
Step 2: Work from the center out
Using gentle, upward strokes, move the flat edge of the tool from the center of your face outward and upward, following the natural contours of your jaw, cheeks, and brow.
- Jawline: glide from chin to ear, 5–7 strokes per side
- Cheeks: glide from nose to ear, 5–7 strokes per side
- Forehead: glide from center to temple, 5–7 strokes per side
- Under-eye: use the smaller curved edge with very light pressure
Step 3: Finish with the neck
Sweep downward from jaw to collarbone to complete the routine.
Tips for a better routine
Keep pressure light to medium, always glide (never scrape), and try to make it part of your routine 3–5 times a week for the best experience. Store your tool somewhere visible so it's easy to remember.
